Jade is the daughter of Zheny Dimaguiba and Chinese businessman Chen Sy. Disappointed that his first-born child is a girl instead of a hoped-for son, Chen and his family planned to give away Jade to an orphanage. In chinese culture, a first born daughter is bad luck. Full of sorrow, Zheny secretly went back to the Philippines to keep and save baby Jade. Years later, Chen discovers that Zheny also gave birth to a son named Yuan, but does not know that he died after being born. Chen did not consider Jade as his daughter. Until a situation where Zheny and her mother were being jailed by a case filed by Jean Sy, the bestfriend of Zheny way back in China who coincidentally became the wife of Chen Sy for which they had a son named Chen Sy II who eventually died at a young age after being involved in a car accident and a daughter, Amethyst. Through desperation, Jade decides to disguise herself as her late brother Yuan, under Chen’s conditions, in line with that, she also wants to feel the love and care of her father. In a later incident, Jean discovers the truth of Yuan’s identity which trigerred several revelations that lead to the building of ChenJean’s competitor, ZhenChu Topps.

Throughout the series, Jade meets Andy and Trevor, the Wu brothers who later develops feelings for her while Onyx, Jade’s childhood friend also competes for her heart. A rather mysterious girl named Amber enters the scene as ChenJean’s newest employee who happens to be Chen’s daughter from another woman and is also obsessed with Andy, who is Jade’s current boyfriend.
