Philippines very own, Shamcey Supsup leads voting online for Miss Universe 2011 people choice as of today!
Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. posted an information that Supsup has already obtained 25 percent of the total votes in the Miss Universe online voting.
Supsup, with a total of 1,578 votes, was followed by Viviana Ortiz of Puerto Rico with 745.
In a statement released in “TV Patrol” on Friday, Supsup extended her sincerest thanks to the Filipino people for their unwavering support.
She said, “Thank you for always praying for me and supporting me. It has been a roller-coaster ride and I’m getting my strength from all the Filipinos who kept on sending me messages on FB and twitter. Thank you. I will be doing my best.”
The 2011 Miss Universe people’s choice online poll will be open until September 11.
The overall winner of this online voting event will have an automatic slot on the 2011 Miss Universe pageant’s semi-finals.
Anyone can cast a vote, 10 times a day per e-mail address.
Venezuela came to a close second with 1,0671,101, and Nicaragua secured the third spot with 688,234.
Meanwhile, in line with her participation in the Operation Smile’s free surgery mission which helped three people suffering cleft palate, Supsup couldn’t help but indulge in the sense of fulfillment it gave her.
She explained, “You could see them so happy to find their children well and cured. So it was a fulfilling experience. God has really placed me here for a higher purpose that is to help and give hope.”
