X Factor Philippines Top 7 Performance Recap and Power Rankings!

Last night was all about music from the 80’s for X Factor Philippines and the remaining 7 finalists gave their so-called memorable performances to avoid elimination and stay until the half-way of the competition, the Top 6!

Charice‘s mentee Allen Sta. Maria started the show with The Police’s Every Breathe You Take with RnB and Hip hop sound which made the viewers hooked on. Her voice is really flexible from those genre to pop rock. It was followed by Martin Nievera‘s one of the boys, Gabriel Maturan with his rendition of Forever by Kenny Loggins. He was pitchy in some place but pull it through in so many ways. He sound hesitant with those high notes.

Next was another mentee of Charice, KZ Tandingan with her own KZ Style in her another great rendition of The Bangle’s Eternal Flame. Hands down! Gary Valenciano‘s lone contestant Daddy’s Home takes advantage with this week’s theme and delivered a good version of a Chicago song. They sure know what’s the sound of 1980’s.

Next in line is future singing heartthrob Jeric Medina from Martin’s boys singing a popular yet controversial George Michael song, Careless Whisper. It was his best performance yet in the competition but still need more to level up. Another “son” of Martin, Kedebon Colim, the most hated among the finalists executed another fast-track song of Survivors to show his energetic moves again. Vocally, he was out of tune, performance is mediocre, energy is high but over-all it was below-average.

The last one to perform is Joan Da, Pilita Corrales‘ one last hope gives us a slow version of Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean. God! That song was huge! So I have to hugely critique on this performance.  It was not appealing at all, her voice is shaky. Her performance was a bit flat. The arrangement is closely taken from the version of David Cook’s AI performance. And to compare between the two, it was hugely a failure for Joan’s part. But we’re giving her an A for the effort.

Here’s our Power Ranking for the Top 7 Performance Night based on Performance/Voice Quality:

1. KZ Tandingan- 9.62
2. Allen Sta. Maria- 7.99
3. Jeric Medina- 7.76
4. Daddy’s Home- 7.59
5. Joan Da- 5.99
6. Gabriel Maturan- 4.79
7. Kedebon Colim- 2.77
