Are Filipino viewers ready for a gay-themed drama series today? Apparently yes, modern people appreciate this portrayals of the so called controversial issue about bisexuals and gay relationships. They got affected since it’s obviously a part of our lives. That’s why viewers and netizens are now hooked up to GMA‘s new drama, ‘My Husband’s Lover‘.
Dennis Trillo returns in portraying a gay role, this time he is involved with a married man who happens to be a bisexual played by Tom Rodriguez. His wife (Carla Abellana) has no idea about it and is remarkably doing good on her long-time career as a plain-housewife.
The said series has been dominating the trending list on Twitter since its debut to the end of its first-week run. It’s competitor Apoy Sa Dagat did not managed to get a spot even if its scenes are now peaking on its climax.
According to data from the industry’s widely trusted ratings service provider Nielsen TV Audience Measurement, the controversial series beats its rival drama in Urban Luzon for June 10 – 12.
“My Husband’s Lover” scored an average household rating of 20.5% versus ABS-CBN’s “Apoy sa Dagat” which only got 16.6%.
In addition, in Mega Manila, “My Husband’s Lover” slaughtered Apoy Sa Dagat as it reaches 22.2% against 15.9%.
Netizens described it as a stepping stone for TV networks to produce this kind of drama for a change. My Husband’s Lover airs on Monday to Friday after ‘Mundo Mo’y Akin’ on GMA Telebabad.
